Metalworking and steel structures group

A Spanish industrial group that designs, manufactures and installs commercial furniture, steel structures and store interiors for large retail chains. Every project is made to order, with fixed opening dates and installation crews in the field.

In 2017, the aim was to stop moving information between quoting, the technical office and production through spreadsheets and emails, and to give every project a single record, from the first request to the final cost.

The approach

The system started in sales and engineering, with quotes, measurements and design time. It then reached production, with work centres, workloads and supplier orders, linked to the technical drawing system (PDM).

Warehouse management followed, with stock by batch and inventories, goods receiving, shipping with a loading calendar, and quality, including incidents and CE marking.

The crews that install the stores got a platform of their own: work reports with hour approval, a site calendar, expenses, inspections, subcontractors and staff documentation.

Today

There are three platforms, for different companies in the group, on the same foundation. The profitability of each project is followed with real production, purchasing and installation data, and the link to the ERP avoids duplicate entries.

The system keeps evolving every year, with continuous support since 2017.
